This ancient eastern French vine is one of the oldest grape varieties in the world and known for being one of the hardest grapes to grow, due to its thin skins that makes it susceptible to disease, sensitive to terroir and changeable weather. As it ripens fairly early, it’s primarily grown in places with cooler climates and when appropriately cultivated, it creates wines that are almost ethereal.
The most renowned Pinot Noir is from the Grands Crus of the Côte d'Or, in the heartland of Burgundy. But guess what…we will taste everything but Burgundy!
Good thing is that Pinot Noir is a very transparent grape that really can communicate the difference in terroir, or grape-growing environment, already between adjacent plots of vineyard, and even more between different Countries. From northern Wales, to the Eastern French regions of Alsace and Jura, to the faraway lands of Australia and New Zealand, come discover different styles of Pinot Noir with us!
