Alex Schulkin & Galit Shachaf

The Other Right, Australia

Alex came to Adelaide to study winemaking, and started The Other Right in 2012 with his wife, Galit. Their approach is simple – keep winemaking operations to the reasonable minimum, meaning not taking unnecessary actions, such as adding additives, and letting the wines evolve according to their own rhythm. Their grapes are sourced from different vineyards in South Australia, including the Adelaide Hills, the Barossa Valley and the McLaren Vale, all of which are managed by organic and sustainable farming practices. Alex currently works for the Australian Wine Research Institute, and his background in science allows him to be more adventurous and experimental in his approach to winemaking, resulting in his wines being natural, wild and full of life.

“Our wines are an expression of us; sometimes a little rough on the edges, full of contradictions. They carry our thoughts, passions, dreams, foot and hand print. We see them as living things; untamed, happy and free-spirited.” - Alex Schulkin & Galit Shachaf
